I've compeleted the construction of the 4x4 layout table. It's now ready for laying of the track an scenic work. I sed 2 2x4 sheets of plywood joined together an reinforced by 2x4x4 beams underneath. I placed casters on the bottom of it so that I can move it easily and I covered the top of the table with 1/2 inch polystyrene foam board. The foam board was fastened down with liquid nails and I put in 4 screws to hold it in place while it dried. It took about an hour to put it all together. As you can can see from the picture below, I've been playing around with difference track layouts while I wait for the scenic materials as well as more track to come in.
