I’m thinking MTH might eventually just change their name to either “MTHO” or “Mike’s European Train House”. The new catalog is depressing.

The new Lionel gensets have made me really mad. They cut a few corners on the new non-vision line gensets…

1. Now has only 1 smoke unit instead of 3, so all 3 smoke stacks blow out smoke simultaneously, just like the MTH genset. The separate smoke unit feature was so damn cool and they got rid of it.
2. No more smoke stacks with lids. They are just open smoke stacks that are permanently fixed to the engine.

So they made the 2 changes you see above, and yet the price remains at around $800. That’s just wrong. It should be no more than $600 with those kinds of cuts.
