Scenic Tutorial Video Update

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

I’ve been trying to knock out at least 1 or 2 scenes a day on the new scenic tutorial video that I’m in the process of making. This is going to be a REALLY long video. So long, in fact, that I’m starting to think it might too long for the attention span on the average YouTube visitor. Rather than splitting the video up into a ton of segments for YouTube, I’m thinking of just making a DVD out of it and selling the DVD online for a very low price.

Don’t ever buy a Magnavox

Monday, March 15th, 2010

I learned the hard way that Magnavox stuff sucks. I bought a Magnavox 15 inch LCD TV for the train room less than 2 years ago. It worked great when I first got it but it has now crapped out and I’ve had to buy a replacement set. So, if you’re looking for an inexpensive small TV don’t waste your money on Magnavox. The new TV is a 19 inch (It’s hard to find 15 inch TV’s in good brands these days) Sharp LCD TV. It’s got good reviews on Amazon so hopefully it will last a little longer than 2 years.

Big scenic video in the works

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I’m currently filming a video showing how I make my scenic hardshell, rock molds and tunnels. To make the video, I’m basically going to be filming a creation of a real tunnel on my layout. This is going to be a very long video and will probably take several weeks to complete.

CTT Magazine and more

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The guys in charge in the annual Piedmont Pilgrimage have recommended my layout to Classic Toy Trains magazine for a possible future article. They also want to add my layout to the tour of layouts for the 2013 NMRA show in Atlanta. They are gonna bring the guys from NMRA and CTT here next month to take some preliminary photos. I’m sure they recommended a ton of other layouts in the area, but I still feel pretty special anyway. I’d better start making things presentable again…
